Mission
Our Mission
The mission of the Minorities Department is to:
- Promote and Protect Minority Rights:
- Develop and implement policies that safeguard the rights and welfare of minority communities, ensuring their full participation in social, economic, and cultural life.
- Enhance Public Awareness:
- Raise awareness about human rights and minority issues through educational initiatives and public campaigns, fostering a culture of respect and understanding.
- Ensure Effective Coordination:
- Collaborate with public and private sectors, NGOs, and other stakeholders to address human rights violations and support the implementation of protective measures for minorities.
- Advance Legal and Legislative Reforms:
- Oversee and advocate for the enforcement of relevant laws and regulations, including those related to minority rights and interfaith harmony, aligning with national and international standards.
- Facilitate Interfaith Harmony:
- Promote dialogue and cooperation among different religious and cultural groups to build a cohesive and peaceful community.
- Implement and Monitor Treaties:
- Manage the Punjab Treaty Implementation Cell (PTIC) and ensure compliance with international human rights treaties, conventions, and protocols.
- Support and Address Grievances:
- Provide mechanisms for the redressal of grievances related to human rights and minority issues, and recommend appropriate actions for violations.
